18 November 2008: IPv6Now and Vocus Fast, Reliable IPv6

NEWS RELEASE FROM IPv6 NOW PTY LTD

IPv6Now is proud to announce that the company has signed up for Vocus Communications' new IPv6 transit service one of the first to do so. Vocus moves native IPv6 traffic across Australia and the Pacific. IPv6Now provides IPv6 access for business everywhere. The combination means that the IPv6 Internet is now more accessible than than ever to Australian businesses.

"Easy access for all, backed up by solid transit, is the key to the future with IPv6", said IPv6Now's Managing Director, Tony Hill. "We were the first in Australia to offer tunnel broker services with commercial service level agreements and the first in Australia to offer dual stack hosting. The Vocus transit service is a perfect match."

The IPv6Now website is on one of the company's own dual-stack servers, so it can be reached easily via IPv6. "We run our own internal business processes on IPv6", said Mr Hill, "and the new Vocus transit makes access to it faster and more reliable, wherever we are in the world."

Mr Hill pointed out that while the need for IPv6 was growing, and businesses were in general well aware of it, the problem for many was knowing where to begin. "We've put a lot of effort into figuring out the details, so we can offer industrial strength good advice and the commercial arrangements to back it up."

Background to IPv6Now:
IPv6 Now Pty Ltd supplies commercial services to business and government, covering all aspects of IPv6, including strategic advice, technical training, network design and testing, and dual-stack hosting for websites, domain names and email. IPv6Now also provides access with guaranteed service levels to the IPv6 Internet, via Australia's first commercial tunnel broker. The company's main offices are in Canberra and Sydney, with offices in Melbourne, Brisbane, South Coast NSW and regional Victoria.

Background to IPv6:
IPv6 is the next generation Internet protocol. It will eventually replace IPv4, which the Internet currently runs on, though there will be a period where both are in use. IPv4 addresses are expected to run out in about 2011. IPv6 uses a 128-bit address, meaning that it can provide an extraordinarily large number of addresses. See www.ipv6.org.au (which incidentally was the first IPv6-accessible website in Australia and is now hosted on an IPv6Now dual-stack server).
